    Great article. Didn’t know about this at all. We had to put down our boxer at 8 because it was too painful for her to walk/move due to arthritis. Dogs are such stoic animals that by the time you know they are in pain – they are in REAL pain.

    We now have an even bigger dog (mastiff mix) and worry about this problem with her as well. Thanks for the information.

    we have a maltese we rescued and he is about 7 or 8 yrs old we have an austrailian shepherd as well (rescue dog) they kinda had a little fight and the next morning stepped on something sharp it ended up being his front tooth that goes over the top whole tooth and roots and after i got the plaque off it was a beautiful tooth but how did it come straight out of his gums hes already had a second one come out the same would really appreciate some info

    I have 2 rescue dogs my maltese is about 6 or 7 yrs old has very bad teeth but he yelps if we even attempt to touch them or sometimes just to close to them lol but he had 2 fall out root and all especially ALOT of tarter i took the tarter off them they looked perfect what makes them come out by the root ? Does the tarter take over yrs and push them out?
